Description

The camera study is often used in the observation phases of Design Thinking and Lean Startup. In camera studies, people are simply given photo or video cameras for a certain period of time. They are then asked to take pictures or small films of certain parts of their lives and to supplement them with short notes. In the age of smartphones, of course, they can also do this job very well.

Camera studies are suitable for many cases, mainly when the innovators are not always able to carry out the observation phase themselves and when a presence would also influence behaviour.

Example: Participants take a picture of each meal and note the location and motivation.
