The Creative Challenge is about focusing on three specific questions for a given problem, which are intended to challenge, rather than question, this trial position.

The necessity, validity and uniqueness of the current solution will be examined. Thus this technique is very helpful in the phase of brainstorming and enrichment, as it is able to further improve the solution space.

It is not a technique of quick brainstorming, but rather is intended to soften and analyse prevailing beliefs and assumptions or limitations to an existing solution.

This is done through an approach that is abbreviated as I/O in English.

These three letters stand for
- Eliminates: Which element can be omitted from the existing solution?
- Reasons: What are the reasons for the correctness of the existing solution?
- Alternatives: What can be alternatives for the existing solution?
