The Competencies Plan is an alternative planning tool that correlates planned innovation projects with the necessary competencies. The tool makes it clear whether the skills required to implement the projects are already available, still need to be developed or need to be supplied from outside.

The method is based on ideas and projects that need to be implemented as well as on the competences and expertise that are necessary for the implementation of the projects. The method provides as output a visual matrix which clearly shows the connections between projects and competences and thus simplifies planning considerably.
